Match: Mumbai Indians vs Delhi Daredevils
When: Tuesday, April 13, 2010, 4 pm
Where: Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai
Who won: Mumbai Indians
How: By 39 runs
Man of the match: Kieron Pollard
MVP of the match: Kieron Pollard
What’d he do?: 45* off 13 balls at breakneck speed thwarted any hopes of Delhi restricting Mumbai to a mediocre total. He was also a livewire on the field, effecting two vital run-outs - those of Sehwag and Collingwood.
Turning point: Turning point it was! Collingwood turned around to find himself run-out by some quick wit courtesy Kieron Pollard.
Dot-ball hero: Young and upcoming southpaw Pradeep Sangwan bowled 14 dot balls, testing and teasing the Mumbai Indians’ batsmen.
Captain vs. Captain: Sachin Tendulkar’s contribution with the bat and some meticulous field placing ensured the local boys another victory. Gambhir thought he had the plot, but Pollard had other ideas. The visiting captain was lacklustre with the bat as well
Off-beat moment: Play was held up in the middle of the 19th over, as McDonald’s ball which was hit for six, had to be retrieved from outside the stadium
Innovative shot: Pollard didn’t even have to try hard. He just kept his bat between the stumps, trying to pull off the 'Dilscoop', and the ball flew over fine leg for six!
Longest Hit: 95 metres were traversed, as Pollard smacked it over midwicket and signalled his arrival.
